Zonta International is about empowering women – how can you do that?

On the local level

Many clubs support or even create great projects in their hometowns to assist and empower women in difficult situations

In searching candidates for our three education programs

Amelia Earhart, Jane M. Klausman and Young Women in Public Affairs -
Who has ever listened to one of the awardees was certainly as impressed as I am ….

And in donating at least 1/3 of the funds raised to our Zonta International Foundation

During the Nice Convention our club delegates approved the international projects proposed by our incoming International President with more than 98%. So we are committed to fund the programs.

We as members of ZONTA International work together with the United Nations to achieve the targets of Sustainable Goal No. 5:

“Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.“

If you take a closer look at the targets of Goal No. 5 you will find out that our projects/programs are perfectly in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at the United Nations.

This is just a short extract out of Sustainable Goal No. 5:

  • End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere.
  • Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation.
  • Eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation.

Does this sound familiar to you?

Our work counts and really makes a difference for women in the world.
