Best Practice: Empowering Club Awardees

‘Strong Voice – Strong Presence’ Workshop for Awardees of Zonta Club Siegen Area

‘Strong Voice – Strong Presence’ Workshop for Awardees of Zonta Club Siegen Area

Nine young women who have received awards from Zonta Club Siegen Area for outstanding academic achievement since 2018 recently took part in a ‘Strong Voice – Strong Presence’ workshop. Seven recipients of the Women in Business Leadership Award and two recipients of the Women in STEM Award worked alongside a professional female coach in the creative and inspiring setting of a converted industrial hall. Together, they explored methods, tools and strategies designed to help them prepare for future leadership roles.

The workshop was funded through ticket sales and donations from a charity reading by author Jo Lendle from his novel ‘Die Himmelsrichtungen’, inspired by the life of Amelia Earhart. The response from the young women, including District 29 STEM Award 2025 recipient Nuraiym Zhusupbekova, was overwhelmingly positive.

Zonta Club Siegen Area has always maintained close contact with its award recipients. More than 40 former and current awardees (Young Women in Leadership Award, formerly the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Women in Business Leadership Award, Women in STEM Award and the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship) are regularly invited to connect with one another and with the Zontians of Siegen, either in person or through a virtual online meet-up.

The exchange of ideas and experiences on the issues that matter to them is valued by both sides as mutually enriching. As a club, we take great pleasure in accompanying these young women on part of their journey and supporting them, for example through workshops such as this one.
