The annual benefit concert of the Zonta Club Münster took place for the 21st time this year at the Erbdrostenhof, a historical building located in Münster, Germany. It is a notable example of Baroque architecture and serves as one of the city’s most prominent landmarks. The building was originally constructed between 1745 and 1753 and designed by the renowned architect Johann Conrad Schlaun, who was instrumental in shaping the architectural landscape of Westphalia in the 18th century.
The President of the Zonta Club Münster, Almut Kellermeyer, emphasized how important education is for a self-determined life. Zonta International has therefore set itself the task of improving the situation of women and girls by strengthening their rights and promoting education. In her opening speech, Kellermeyer emphasized how effective the various Zonta projects are, e.g. the project to end child marriages or the “Dance, Theatre, Voice” project in Münster-Coerde, which strengthens the self-confidence of young girls at the Norbert School.
The concert was performed by three young artists: Li-Ting Tai opened the ZONTA concert with contemplation and dark colors, interspersed with bright sounds, in Johannes Brahms Intermezzi op 117 with wonderfully sensitive playing. The young pianist stood in for the oboist who had fallen ill and, during the matinee, demonstrated with Stravinsky’s three movements from Petrushka that she also possesses the highest virtuosity and strength to master one of the most demanding works for piano.
In stylistic contrast to this, the 16 and 18-year-old sisters Catharina and Theresia Volbers (recorders and spinet) also won the hearts of the guests in the packed Erbdrostenhof hall with music ranging from Couperin to Barboudakis with equal sensitivity for melodiousness and expressive nuances.
In addition to supporting the musicians playing and singing in the concert, the proceeds of 5,000 euros will benefit the “Dance, Theater, Voice” project and the international project against child marriages.
