On the occasion of the 800th jubilee of the city of Siegen, the ZC Siegen Area (Area 05) organised a ‘Zonta Singfest’ with 800 children from 5 primary schools in Siegen’s market square.* The initiative came from an association for district marketing.
The patron was the mayor of the city of Siegen, who specifically mentioned our club several times. The event was professionally documented by the city of Siegen. Naturally, the market square was decorated with numerous Zonta flags.

Results
- The city marketing initiative and the mayor will make a statement in November as ‘Zonta says NO’ ambassadors – for example with our orange bench.
- A school director, who was leading in the musical organisation, will be welcomed as a new member in September.
- Local media reported widely on the event and the ‘Zonta Singfest’-Video was the opener slider on the main jubilee-website (www.siegen800.de) for 5 weeks.
* The ZC Siegen Area organised a total of 10 ‘Zonta Sing Events’ from 2008 to 2017 – with about 10 primary schools. The annual ‘Zonta-Singfest’ was the highlight of a project that aimed to improve interaction in the schools, e.g. to promote respect and cooperation, but also to improve the atmosphere in the schools, especially in difficult neighbourhoods.
