Award ceremony at the University of Siegen
The Zonta Club Siegen Area presented the Women in STEM Award for the second time. The winner 2025 is Nuraiym Zhusupbekova, a student in the Master’s programme in Computer Science at the University of Siegen.
The award was given to her primarily for her excellent academic achievements, but also for her professional commitment to a large regional company and her clearly focused professional and personal goals.
‘Also because of my origins in Kyrgyzstan, I want to break stereotypes and be a role model for other young women to follow their personal inclinations and work in the STEM field.’

Ceremony with numerous guests
Gudrun Kröniger, President of the Zonta Club Siegen Area 2025/26, welcomed numerous guests to the award ceremony – particularly the Rector of the University of Siegen (Welcome words) and the Head of Digital Competence Centre, EJOT SE & Co. KG as laudatory speaker. Furthermore, numerous previous club award winners participated, including recipients of other awards.
The club president handed the winner a certificate, the prize and a bouquet of Zonta yellow flowers. ‘We at the Zonta Club Siegen Area consider ourselves fortunate to welcome such an excellent award winner to our network,’ said Gudrun Kröniger. ‘At the same time, we are a little proud of you for winning the district award.’
The Zonta Club Siegen Area stays in close contact with the young women. Together with our award winners, we continue to work towards the goal of Zonta International: ‘Build a better world for women and girls.
Nuraiym Zhusupbekova will also be honoured for her achievements at the international Zonta level by District 29.
Her outstanding achievements also impressed the relevant committee of Zonta District 29. The award winner from the Zonta Club Siegen Area prevailed against applicants from North Rhine-Westphalia, the Netherlands, northern France, Great Britain and Spain and won the District 29 award, which is being presented for the first time.
This makes her the first international award winner from the Zonta Club Siegen Area. The District Award was presented to her on 4 October at the District 29 international conference in Essen.
