Zonta International has introduced a new Women in STEM Award – with 16 international awards of US$10,000 each and a complimentary one-year supporting membership in Zonta International for the next financial year.

District 29 can submit 2 candidates to Zonta International.

Background

The Zonta Women in STEM Award uplifts innovation and celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of women between 18-35 years of age in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and acknowledge their groundbreaking research, pioneering discoveries, and/or exemplary contributions to advancing knowledge and innovation in a STEM field.

By recognizing and supporting these exceptional women, Zonta aims to inspire future generations and foster inclusivity and diversity in the world of STEM.

CSW67 reaffirmed the importance of women and girls’ full, equal and meaningful participation and leadership in science, technology and innovation, and expressed concern on the limited progress in closing the gender gap in access to and use of technologies, connectivity, digital literacy and education. It also expressed grave concern about the continuity and interrelation between offline and online violence, harassment and discrimination against women and girls and condemned the increase of such acts.

Zonta will demonstrate its commitment to educational equality through meaningful fellowships, scholarships and awards that address equality of access or equality of opportunity for women and girls.
