Review Area Meetings

Area 01 | 14 – 16 November 2025

Area 01 (Spain and Northwestern France) held its Area meeting on 14-16 November in Malaga, Spain. This meeting was held as a hybrid meeting so that members of clubs who could not be physically present had a chance to participate online. On top of regular Area business, the weekend was devoted to workshops on membership, leadership and succession. There was also time for fun and friendship on Saturday as participants enjoyed a wonderful guided tour through the rich history of Malaga and its culinary delights, with a flamenco spectacle to crown a very lively evening.

Area 02

On November 15, 2025, 32 Zontians met in Aachen for the 3. Area Meeting. The topic was “Poverty among Women.” We started with two keynote speeches: Dr. Shweta Mishra, Managing Director of the German Institute for Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research, and Claudia Kneifel, journalist and author of the book “Verliebt, vertraut, verrechnet”. This was followed by several best practice examples from clubs that are already addressing this issue. In the subsequent World Café, moderated by Susanne von Bassewitz, we gathered ideas for possible projects. We agreed that prevention is more important than helping those in need.

After the Area Director’s report, updates on the seminar conference, and reports from the clubs, we took part in the kick-off event of ZONTA says NO, an online discussion on the topic of “All of us – for protection against and prevention of violence against women.
