Key Priorities
Education for youth today is a fundamental driver of equality, empowerment, and sustainable development. UNESCO and Zonta share a common vision: every young person — especially every girl — must have access to inclusive, quality education and opportunities to lead and thrive.
Four priorities are essential:
1. Equal access and inclusion
Millions of young people, particularly girls and marginalized youth, still face barriers to education. Ensuring safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments for all remains the first global priority (SDG 4).
2. Skills for a changing world
Youth must be equipped with digital, green, and human skills — including critical thinking, AI literacy, sustainability awareness, and leadership — to navigate rapid technological and social change.
3. Youth participation and leadership
Young people are not only learners but partners in shaping education and society. Their voices, engagement, and civic participation must be recognized and supported.
4. Education for equality, peace, and sustainability
Education today must promote gender equality, human rights, intercultural understanding, and climate responsibility, preparing youth to build peaceful and just societies.
UNESCO and Zonta together affirm:
Investing in girls’ education and youth leadership is one of the most powerful pathways to inclusive, sustainable, and equitable futures for all.
