Zonta Honoured at NAWO’s UK National Women’s Conference
On Wednesday 8 July 2026, Claudia Gusmitta, member of the Zonta Club of London, represented Zonta International at the UK National Women’s Conference, hosted by the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations (NAWO). The conference brought together member organisations from across the UK, alongside representatives from government, civil society, academia and youth groups. Together, they reflected on the outcomes of CSW70, reviewed progress on the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and examined the UK’s implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
A key point from a day of insightful and inspiring presentations and panels was the importance of raising awareness of CEDAW and of continuing to push for its full implementation in the UK. It was a reminder that awareness itself is part of the work, and that Zontians everywhere have a role to play in bringing these commitments into everyday conversation.
The day concluded with the NAWO National Awards, where Zonta International was honoured with the Award for Outstanding Contribution in the Area of Human Rights for Women, a wonderful recognition of the advocacy and service Zontians carry out around the world.

The conference also underlined the importance of making connections: no single organisation can achieve gender equality alone, and real progress comes when we work together. Congratulations to Zontians everywhere, and thank you to NAWO for the honour.
