Eradicate Women´s Poverty

The Commission on the Status of Women 68 (CSW) took place from March 11-22 at the UN in New York. Government members and civil society representatives from Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America & the Carabian, Europe & North America, discussed how to eradicate women´s poverty.

  • 342 Mio women will live in extreme poverty.in 2030.
  • More than 12 % of women globally life nowadays on less than USD 2,15 globally.
  • Many of them are excluded from access, water and financial assets.

Lack of gender equality as reason of poverty

All ministers and representatives pointed out, that the lack of gender equality is the reason of poverty. The commission had to find a strategy how to finance the empowerment of women and girls with a gender perspective. 

Secretary-General Mr. Guterres called for a Sustainable Development SDG Stimulus that would provide USD 500 billion annually in affordable long-term finance for developing countries. He urged budgets and policies participation and urgent investments for women´s peacebuilding.

International president Ute Scholz was in the panel in two workshops carried out together with UNICEF advocating for a better world for women and girls.
